Vintage Rolex Precision Ladies’ Watch in 9ct Gold | 1958

A beautiful 1958 Rolex Precision ladies’ watch, crafted in solid 9ct yellow gold and finished with an exceptionally pretty integrated gold bracelet.

This is a wonderful example of the petite jewellery watches Rolex produced during the 1950s, when a ladies’ wristwatch was designed to be as much a piece of fine jewellery as a timepiece. The small circular case flows directly into an ornate articulated bracelet, creating an elegant continuous gold design around the wrist.

The silvered dial is beautifully characteristic of the period, with the Rolex coronet at 12 o’clock, applied gold hour markers and unusual Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9. Gold hands and the signed Rolex Precision dial complete the wonderfully understated mid-century design.

Inside is a signed Rolex Precision manual-wind mechanical movement, displaying the traditional finishing and compact construction associated with Rolex’s ladies’ movements of this period. Comparable 1958 ladies’ Precision watches are documented with signed manual-wind movements and integrated 9ct Rolex bracelets.

The real highlight, however, is the integrated solid 9ct gold Rolex bracelet. Its beautifully unusual openwork links have an almost botanical, leaf-like quality, giving the watch considerably more character than a conventional gold bracelet watch. It sits elegantly around the wrist and is finished with a Rolex-signed clasp.

Weighing approximately 21 grams overall, there is a lovely substance to the piece despite its delicate proportions. The petite 18.2mm case including the crown is wonderfully representative of 1950s ladies’ watch design, while the bracelet accommodates a wrist of approximately 16.5–17.5cm.
