Vintage Rolex Precision 9ct Gold Gents Watch | 1964 35mm

A beautifully preserved 1964 Rolex Precision, housed in a substantial 9ct yellow gold case and measuring an unusually wearable 35mm across.

This is a particularly handsome example of the classic mid-century Rolex dress watch. The clean silvered dial is beautifully balanced, with applied gold baton hour markers, matching gold hands and a traditional subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The applied Rolex coronet at 12 completes the wonderfully understated design.

The 35mm case gives the watch considerably more presence than many vintage Rolex dress watches of the period. Its slim profile and gently curved lugs retain the elegance of a 1960s watch, while the larger diameter makes it remarkably easy to wear today.

Inside is a signed Rolex Precision manual-wind movement with 17 jewels. The movement is marked “Montres Rolex S.A., Geneva Swiss” and “Seventeen 17 Jewels”. It has been fully serviced and is ready to wear.

The watch is housed in a British-made 9ct gold Dennison case made for Rolex, a fascinating feature of many Rolex watches supplied to the UK during this period. The inside case back carries the Dennison and Rolex markings together with the appropriate 9ct gold hallmarks.

A signed Rolex crown remains fitted to the case, while the watch is paired with a brown Rolex leather strap and Rolex gold-plated buckle.

At approximately 32 grams gross weight and 35mm in diameter, this is a substantial yet beautifully refined vintage Rolex. It has the restrained elegance expected of a 1960s Precision, but its larger case size makes it particularly appealing for someone looking for a vintage gold Rolex that doesn’t feel overly petite on the wrist.
