Vintage Rolex Cellini 18ct Gold Manual Wind Watch | Jubilee Dial

An exceptionally elegant vintage Rolex Cellini in solid 18ct yellow gold, combining the beautifully restrained proportions of a classic dress watch with one of the more interesting dial finishes found within the Cellini collection.

This 1976 beauty with round 27mm gold case frames a silvered champagne-toned dial with a subtle repeating Rolex Jubilee-style motif, applied gold hour markers and matching gold hands. The combination is wonderfully understated at first glance, but the patterned dial reveals itself as the light moves across the watch.

The Cellini collection represents a rather different side of Rolex. Away from the Oyster cases and sports watches for which the marque is best known, Cellini watches were created around traditional Swiss watchmaking and elegant dress-watch design. This example captures that perfectly, with its slim gold case, clean dial and beautifully simple two-hand configuration.

Inside is the Rolex calibre 1601, a traditional hand-wound mechanical movement. The watch has been fully serviced by our independent horologist and is ready to wear.

It is fitted to a black Rolex leather strap with a Rolex-signed gold-plated pin buckle, giving the watch a wonderfully classic finish. At 27mm, the case has the smaller proportions characteristic of vintage dress watches, but its simple round design makes it an elegant choice for either a ladies’ watch or for collectors who favour traditional smaller case sizes.

The internal case is correctly signed Montres Rolex S.A., Geneva, Switzerland and marked 18K / 750, confirming the solid 18ct gold construction.

A particularly beautiful example of a vintage gold Rolex and an appealing alternative to the more familiar Oyster and Datejust models. The combination of its solid gold case, unusual patterned dial and manually wound Rolex movement gives this Cellini a quiet sophistication that feels very much at home in a vintage jewellery collection.
