A beautifully wearable vintage 9ct gold flat curb link necklace, hallmarked in 1981 and crafted with a wonderfully smooth, fluid finish.
The necklace is formed from closely connected flat curb links, each polished to catch the light as the chain moves. At approximately 4mm wide, it has enough presence to look striking worn alone while remaining wonderfully easy to layer with shorter chains, pendants and other vintage gold necklaces.
Its longer 60cm length is particularly lovely, allowing the chain to sit lower on the neckline than a traditional short necklace. The flattened construction also means it lies beautifully against the skin, creating an almost ribbon-like line of warm yellow gold.
Weighing a substantial 17.4 grams, this is a lovely example of early 1980s British gold jewellery and has that satisfying weight and quality that makes vintage gold chains so appealing.
The simplicity of the curb link makes this an incredibly versatile piece. It works just as well with a T-shirt or shirt as it does layered with finer chains, and its clean, classic design feels every bit as wearable today as it would have done when it was made over forty years ago.
A timeless solid gold necklace and a particularly useful addition to a vintage jewellery collection.
