Cartier Santos Carrée Small Two-Tone Automatic Watch | c. late 1980s

A classic Cartier Santos Carrée automatic watch, combining stainless steel with 18ct yellow gold detailing in the instantly recognisable Santos design.

Dating to approximately 1988, this is the smaller 24mm version of the Santos Carrée, with its beautifully compact proportions making it particularly elegant on a smaller wrist. The square stainless-steel case is finished with a contrasting yellow gold bezel and Cartier’s signature exposed screws, a design that has become one of the Maison’s most recognisable.

The crisp white dial features bold black Roman numerals, blued steel hands and the traditional inner minute track, finished with Cartier’s distinctive blue cabochon crown.

Unlike many smaller Cartier watches, this example houses a mechanical automatic movement, giving it the appeal of a traditional mechanical Cartier while retaining the wonderfully petite proportions associated with the vintage Santos.

The integrated two-tone bracelet continues the combination of stainless steel and yellow gold detailing, creating the unmistakable 1980s and 1990s Santos aesthetic that has become increasingly sought after again today.

Weighing approximately 57 grams, the watch measures approximately 24mm across the case and is currently sized to suit a smaller wrist. It has been fully serviced and is presented in beautiful vintage condition.
